Galway break Treaty hearts
Goals from David Hurley, Wassim Aouachria and Rob Manley saw Galway Utd claim their 22nd league win with victory over Treaty Utd at Eamonn Deacy Park.
Hurley’s 16th goal of the season came in the eighth minute when he scored from the penalty spot. Wassim doubled his side’s advantage five minutes from the break. Rob Manley was just on the pitch a few minutes when he grabbed Galway’s third goal.
Treaty keeper Corey Chambers pulled off some fine saves to deny the home side on a number of occasions.
It was the visitors who had the first chance of the game; Success Edogun brought a good save out of Galway netminder Brendan Clarke in the second minute.
Galway took the lead in the eighth minute after Darren Nwankwo brought Wassim down in the box. Hurley’s penalty was saved by Chambers but was ordered to retake it. He made no mistake the second time around.
In the 10th minute Hurley’s ball met the head of Ed McCarthy but his glancing effort just went wide. Wassim brought a fine save out of Chambers as the home side looked for a second goal.
Chambers denied Wassim again in the 22nd minute. He caused the Treaty defence a number of problems. He eventually got the goal he deserved in the 40th minute; Stephen Walsh played the ball to him and he dinked the ball past Chambers.
Just before the break Lee Devitt played the ball to Conor Barry but the former Galway player was denied twice by Clarke.
Chambers was the busier keeper throughout. In the 47th minute he made a great reaction save to deny Wassim and four minutes later he pulled off a good save to prevent Ronan Manning from getting Galway’s third goal.
In the 64th minute Barry’s cross was headed over the bar by Devitt. Both managers made changes to freshen up their side.
Rob Manley was on the pitch less than two minutes when he scored Galway’s third goal. Another sub Francely Lomboto brought a save out of Chambers, the loose ball was finished to the net by Manley.
