Match Report
Treaty United secured consecutive home wins to further tighten their grip in the final play-off spot. Goals from Stephen Christopher and Dean George in the opening 24 minutes helped swat aside a disappointing Bray outfit. United were looking to follow up on last weeks 1-0 win over Cobh Ramblers and were able to call upon captain Jack Lynch who returned after nearly two months on the sidelines. The bright start for the hosts saw Enda Curran hit the post after just three minutes, with Bray all at sea in the opening moments. They did go close themselves on 11 minutes, when Colin Kelly fired an effort from a tight angle off the post with Jack Brady looking beaten in the home goal. The opener arrived within two minutes as George linked well with Marc Ludden. The full-back had time to pick out the advancing Christopher who finished first time from around 12 yards. George could have doubled the lead on 22. Having been played in by Willie Armshaw, he rounded McGuiness but his effort from a tight angle was blocked on the line before Curran was denied by a second block. He more than made up for that effort moments later. Christopher turning provider with his deep free-kick headed home by the Dubliner. George has had a productive season after a difficult 2021 with injury. Bray offered little resistance in this period and were glad that the hosts took the foot off the gas. Brady was underemployed and you’d have to question the motivation for Bray, who’ve had a difficult season to date. But Pat Devlin’s side did put it up to Treaty with a late goal. Sub Callum Thompson somehow scored from a tight angle, with his cross deceiving everybody to find the far corner. Despite a few half-chances, Bray were unable to extend their unbeaten run to three, with the hosts holding on for three on the bounce. The host UCD in the FAI Cup quarter final next Friday, in what is a huge day for this new club.Treaty United hold on to beat Bray on Shannonside
