Treaty Test The Waves On Shannonside To Score Valuable Point

Treaty United earned another valuable point by holding firm defensively against a very attack-minded DLR Waves side at the Markets Field.

The Limerick side did carve out chances of their own but DLR will rue the miss opportunities during the course of the game which was end to end at most.

Neema Nyangasi had the best chance of the game for the away side with her header cannoning off the cross bar in the first half with Kiara Kilbey forcing a great save from Eve Bandana late on.

It was DLR who had the best of the early chances as Michelle Doonan had an excellent shot at the back post that just went too high but it was an excellent ball from Neema Nyangasi some thirty yards, to begin with, the best part of this phase of play.

Joy Ralph was next to test the Treaty defence as she got past her marker and found herself one on one with Anne-Marie Ulliac but her effort was well saved by the Treaty netminder. Treaty began to build some attacking play themselves with Emma Costello having a sight on Eve Bandana's goal but it went just over the bar.

Jessica Heffernan looked certain to score for the home side as she broke free of the DLR back four and just before she got a shot on Eve Bandana’s goal, Hannah Tobin Jones did brilliantly to come in with a match-winning block to take the ball down and away from the advancing striker.

In the second half, Jess Gleeson had a shot from a free kick that was blocked down and with second-half replacement Sarah McKevitt's follow-up attempt went wide via a deflection.

What followed was a fantastic save from Anne-Marie Ulliac in the Treaty goal as she tipped the ball over from an inswinging corner. Sarah McKevitt was to have another chance for DLR thwarted by the crossbar as her free-kick looked to have dipped just at the right time only for her effort to crash off the crossbar.

Treaty pushed in the latter stages with Kiara Kilbey having a shot on goal after getting into the DLR area but her effort was well saved by Bandana.

There was a massive talking point at the end of the game as Hannah Saidi kicked the ball and got around Bandana but was forced wide and her follow-up cross into the DLR area was blocked down by Jessica Gleeson, it appears however to have struck her hand but the referee waves played on. That is a moment that Treaty will think ‘What if?’
