Pats cruise to victory in Richmond over UCD

St. Patrick’s Athletic cruised to a 3-0 victory over UCD in a wet and miserable Richmond Park this evening.

A brace from Chris Forrester either side of a Jake Mulraney goal ensured the three points remained in Inchicore as the hosts look to kickstart their league campaign.

Despite a bright enough start by the visitors, it was the hosts who dominated the first half. Chances for McClelland, Curtis, Mulraney, and Doyle during the opening ten minutes set the tone for the rest of the half.

The Pat’s pressure paid off on the 16th minute when Vladislav Kreida’s corner was prodded home at the front post by Chris Forrester to make it 1-0.

The hosts added a second when Jake Mulraney’s effort from just inside the box was spilled by UCD goalkeeper Kian Moore which trickled into the back of the net before half-time.

The Student’s created a massive opportunity that they should have scored from just after the restart when Alex Nolan turned and swivelled in the penalty area, but he couldn’t get the right contact with his effort and Pat’s goalkeeper Dean Lyness collected comfortably.

The home side went down the other end and a lovely pass from McClelland freed Forrester who raced through and calmly chipped the ball over the oncoming Moore to make it 3-0.

Pat’s could’ve and probably should’ve added a fourth with efforts from Forrester and Carty not finding the back of the net.

The Students did create some half chances of their own with sub Divine Izekor finding himself in a promising area once or twice, but he couldn’t trouble Lyness.

The game finished 3-0 in what was a comfortable night for St. Pat’s.

The home side now move onto Cork City at home next Friday whilst UCD entertain Shelbourne.
