UCD are threatening to score a second with a fantastic save from Brian Maher keeping the students at bay. The follow up effort from Jack Keaney is directly at Maher to the relief of the Derry keeper.

UCD have pulled one back through Michael Wells, a fortuitous bounce from a corner lands at the feet of Wells and as he turns he blasts it to the back of the Derry net for a consolation goal.

Another fantastic move from Derry as they start to run through the gears. Michael Duffy again with the finish as he headed the ball into his own path and lifted it over the onrushing keeper.

Jamie McGonigle is the latest Derry forward to be thwarted by Kian Moore. His point blank range finish is smothered by the UCD stopper at the second attempt.

Michael Duffy has finally broken his own duck. A sublime backheel from Will Patching put the winger in and his effort flew past the UCD keeper.

Micheal Duffy has been awesome for Derry City this evening. Another deflected effort goes just over the bar and the Candystripes can't take advantage of the corner.

A combination of Moore and the post keep UCD within one of their hosts. Michael Duffy almost found the bottom corner after a mazy run but Moore pushed it out for another corner. Duffy's delivery came of Keaney's head and McEneff had all the time in the world from an acute angle but his effort went wide off the side of the post.

Kian Moore has just pulled off a fine save to deny Will Patching from distance. The youngster touched Patching's belter over the bar for a corner after fancy footwork from the Derry midfielder gave him the opportunity to strike.

Derry have opened the scoring with a solid header at the back post from Jordan McEneff. A beautifully weighted cross from Michael Duffy laid it on a plate for his teammate despite the best efforts of Kian Moore in the UCD goal.

It's been all Derry so far. UCD have been cut open a few times already but Derry haven't been able to find a finish.
