Match Report
Curran at the double in Bishopsgate
Enda Curran scored a brace as Treaty Utd recorded their third win in a row but his antics in getting Longford Town goalkeeper Jack Brady sent off left a lot to be deserved.
Curran opened the scoring in the 25th minute and got his and his side’s second goal in the 62nd minute from the penalty spot. In his goal celebration he ran straight to the Town keeper to goad him who shouldered him away but Curran went down holding his face and Brady was shown a second yellow.
Treaty got their third goal in the 75th minute through Stephen Christopher.
Treaty were reduced to 10 at the end when Ben O’Riordan was sent off for a horrific challenge on Cian Byrne in additional time.
Jamal Ibrahim cut inside in the fourth minute but his shot lacked power to trouble Shane Hallahan. In the 15th minute Aodh Dervin’s cross was headed into the path of Gary Armstrong by Ibrahim but he shot at Hallahan.
Treaty began to come into the game. A Marc Ludden corner in the 21st minute met the head of Ben O’Riordan but Town keeper Jack Brady pulled off an excellent save to deny him. Minutes later Brady denied O’Riordan again. From the resulting corner taken by Ludden, Curran headed home at the back post.
In the 27th minute Brady saved from Dean George as the visitors went in search of a second goal. The home side struggled to get a hold on the game. Good defending from captain Shane Curran prevented Curran from a second in the 28th minute.
It was all Treaty at this stage and O’Riordan was denied again by the Town netminder in the 35th minute. Minutes later William Armshaw shot over while just before half-time Conor Brady brought a fine save out of Brady.
Treaty had the first chance of the second half. Alec Byrne played the ball into George but he dragged his shot just wide in the 47th minute.
Cian Byrne was penalised in the 61st minute and Curran put away the penalty. In his celebrations he chose to provoke Brady and the Town netminder was sent off.
Stephen Christoper grabbed Treaty’s third goal. The game ended with O’Riordan getting a straight red and a melee.
