Davis Rescues Draw For The Seagulls
A goal from Conor Davis in the 80th minute earned Bray Wanderers a draw against a dogged Longford Town side.
Town had taken the lead in the 10th minute through Josh Giurgi and dominated the second half but couldn’t add to that goal.
Aodh Dervin had a goal ruled out for offside in the 64th minute while Giurgi hit the crossbar in stoppage time.
The first chance of the game yielded a goal in the 10th minute. Gary Armstong played the ball out wide to Shane Elworthy, he in turn found Giurgi with a fine pass and the striker made no mistake with an excellent finish.
After that neither keeper had to do much as no chances were created. Bray enjoyed possession but couldn’t muster up anything to test Town keeper Jack Brady.
In the 29th minute former Town player Joe Power hit a free that went over the bar. Minutes later a corner from Power found the head of Ger Shortt but he directed his effort over from close range.
Down the other end substitute Viktor Serdeniuk’s effort got a touch out for a corner in the 35th minute. Ben Feeney brought a save out of Brady one minute later. Brady made a good save to deny Jake Walker in the 43rd minute.
Power’s corner in the 46th minute was headed straight at Brady by Cole Omorehiomwan. The home side took a hold of the game after that. Dervin picked up a pass by Giurgi and hit a fantastic strike to the net but it was flagged for offside; it was tight.
Former Bray player Darragh Lynch weaved his way into the box on 67th minute and Dane Massey had to be alert to clear the danger out for a corner.
Town were made to rue missed opportunities when Bray drew level in the 80th minute; a cross from the left found former Town player Davis and he fired an excellent strike to the net.
In the 90th minute Massey hit a free just over the bar. In stoppage time Town could’ve nicked the three points; Giurgi hit the crossbar from Adam Verdon’s free and Mohamed Boudiaf fired over from close range.
