Match Report
Galway United cruised to a 6-0 win over Bray Wanderers this evening with first half goals from Killian Brouder, Vincent Borden and a David Hurley penalty added to by Borden, Mikie Rowe and Ibrahim Keita in the second period at Eamonn Deacy Park. John Caulfield will have been very happy with the performance and the scoreline which slightly flattered the home side. Galway were the better side throughout but it was their intensity and clinical nature in front of goal that was the difference between the two sides tonight. Stephen Walsh didn’t find the net but was involved in everything good the Tribesmen managed throughout a highly entertaining League of Ireland First Division clash. Bray looked bright in the opening exchanges but it would be Galway who threatened first with Vincent Borden capitalising on great work on the wing from Francely Lomboto to have a shot but his effort was well dealt with by Bray keeper Alex Moody who saved at the expense of a corner. Galway finally made their corner count pay dividends on 9 minutes when Conor O’Keefe had his shot blocked but he clipped a cross back in after collecting the rebound and Killian Brouder found the net from close range as he was left unmarked in the box. On 22 minutes the score was doubled when great work from Stephen Walsh saw Vincent Borden with an opportunity on the edge of the box. A quick turn and shot saw the ball nestle in the bottom corner to but the home side two up. The game was effectively over when on the half hour mark the ball bounced up and hit Bray defender Dane Massey on the arm and the referee Paul Morton pointed at the spot. David Hurley assumed responsibility and drilled the ball low down the middle as Moody dived to his left to end the contest. Galway would go on to add two more in the second half. First a quick ball from Clarke found Stephen Walsh in space. He slalomed his way through the Bray rearguard and slipped the ball to the arriving Borden on the edge of the box who struck it first time to the bottom corner to leave Moody with no chance on 65 minutes. Moody was responsible for the concession of the penalty for the fifth goal as a lax backpass was short. Walsh who was a livewire all evening got there first and Moody took him down and received a yellow card for his troubles. Substitution Mikie Rowe stepped up and drilled it just beyond the reach of the full stretch of Moody who guessed right but just couldn’t keep it out. Galway would rub salt in the wounds with their sixth. A somewhat dubious decision not to award an offside against Vincent Borden saw him with a half cocked effort at goal. It looked to be dealt with by the defender but Ibrahim Keita nipped in and toe poked it past Moody to roll into the unguarded net to sent the home supporters home very happy this evening.Galway Put In Six Star Display To Overcome Bray

The referee brings play to a close here. Galway will be very happy with the performance, the result and a clean sheet for the First Division league leaders.
And the referee has announced two minutes of added time but it's unlikely to have an impact on the outcome of the game.
It\'s six for league leaders Galway as they get the benefit of a dodgy offside decision. Borden\'s poor effort at goal falls to Ibrahim Keita who applies the deft finish past on the onrushing Moody. It\'s been that kind of evening for Galway as they consolidate their position in the league table.
It's 5-0. Mikie Rowe steps up and sends it just inside the post to make it five to the home side.
Another penalty for Galway as Alex Moody upends Stephen Walsh who gets to a backpass first. Yellow card for Moody.
4-0 Vincent Borden has struck again. Bray had their best chance at one end as Brendan Clarke makes an excellent save. He gathers at the second attempt and his quick kick sets Stephen Walsh free. Walsh cuts through the Bray defence before squaring the ball to Borden who find's the bottom corner from the edge of the box for the best goal of the game so far for Galway United.
The impressive Almirall has an opportunity to pull one back for Bray but his effort from the right hand side of the box goes wide on the far side ahead of two outstretched Bray legs.
One change at the break as Dave Webster comes into replace Jack Hudson for the visitors.
Jake Walker bursts into the box and ends up on the ground but the referee not interested in a foul as Galway emerge with the ball. The referee blows the half time whistle to bring the play to a close. 3-0 to the home side here.
Galway have claims for another penalty as Stephen Walsh is bundled off the ball on the edge of the box but the referee is not interested.
The ball bounces up to hit Dane Massey on the arm and the referee awards a penalty. David Hurley steps up and buries it to make it 3-0.
Ben Feeney continues to look lively for Bray as his run and cross puts a chance on the head of Jake Walker but his team mate heads it straight at Brendan Clarke.
Vincent Borden has made it 2-0 for the home team. A great opportunity as he uses his power to push his opponent off the ball and drives the ball across Moody into the far bottom corner to put the league leaders into a healthy lead in Galway.
Ben Feeney gets on the end of the ball into the Galway box and at the second attempt get's his shot in but can't worry Clarke in goals for Galway.
GOAL: Galway force a few corners in quick succession, the third is half cleared to Conor O\'Keeffe who see\'s his shot blocked but he clips in a cross and Killian Brouder meets it unmarked to guide it comfortably back into the top corner giving Moody no chance. It\'s advantage to John Caulfield\'s men.
First effort comes from a good move down the left wing from Francely Lomboto who\'s cross is half cleared. Vincent Borden snatches at the loose ball but a great save from Alex Moody in goal for the away side.
All a little scrappy in the opening exchanges in Eamonn Deacy Park as Bray Wanderers are threatening in the early play.
The teams are coming out to the beats of 'Brewing up a Storm'. Two exciting sides with Galway on a fine run of form at the top of the table.
