Match Report

Perfect Ten for Peas against Treaty

No extra efforts were needed from Peamount United to come closer to a title renewal, as an impressive 10-0 win visiting Treaty United was achieved this afternoon.

Alannah McEvoy’s hat-trick; braces from Aine O’Gorman and Lauren Kealy; along with a goal each from Sadhbh Doyle, Stephanie Roche and Becky Watkins; ensured there was no room for surprises at Jackman Park.

The reigning champions stay relentless up front in the league table by extending Treaty’s losing streak to nine consecutive losses, and they are now four battles away from raising the trophy once more.

Treaty’s hopes for some much-needed points came down to nothing in the ninth minute when Doyle started the goal-rush, beating the offside trap and using a through ball to change the score.

The same move got copied and pasted four minutes later bringing O’Gorman face-to-face with Michaela Mitchell as she used a nice finish to make it 2-0.

The Peas left no space for the Limerick outfit to catch a breath and naturally kept coming dangerously. Roche put the fourth past the keeper in the 27th minute with a devastating first-time finish from the edge of the box.

McEvoy got her name on the scoresheet in the 35th minute, sending in a ball over the top at the back post, before O’Gorman bagged her brace by sending in an outrageous finish after a great turn.

The second period brought the same utter performance from the champions, as McEvoy delivered her second of the day with an emphatic finish into the top corner in the 47th minute.

Following a poor first attempt, Watkins got her goal - firing home a cool finish after connecting herself with a precise cross coming from the right.

McEvoy completed her hat-trick through a loose ball left alive by Mitchell inside of the six-yards box.

The two digits score got confirmed by the substitute Lauren Kealy got brought the two last scratches to Treaty’s wound in two minutes. Watkins played it across for the first in the 82nd minute, followed by an easy finish into an empty net with Mitchell already out of the play.

  • The shock reality presents itself as a meeting of major importance for the Peas, as they saw Wexford beating the Dublin Waves with a late 1-nil win and taking no step down in their chase for stealing the show from the title holders.

  • Good afternoon and welcome to the live coverage of the clash between Peamount and Treaty United. My name is Bernardo Santos and I’ll let you know about all the action as it happens.
