Match Report
Peamount power past Treaty
Peamount United reiterated their primacy in the Women’s National League once again today as they put five past a stubborn Treaty United at PLR Park.
Eleanor Ryan was denied a burning hattrick in Greenogue but struck a goal in both halves to help her side assert their vantage in the title race, aided by goals from Sadhbh Doyle, Alannah McEvoy and Karen Duggan too.
Treaty managed to get on the scoresheet through Aoife Cronin before the interval, but it wasn’t enough to put it up to the reigning champions who after Shelbourne’s win against DLR Waves mount the top of the table on goal difference.
The Doyle duo were on top form once again for Peamount United in this match, Sadhbh getting the inaugural goal of the game and Eleanor Ryan doubling the home side’s lead in the 37th minute for her 13th goal of the season.
The merriment amid The Girls in Green and the crowd there to cheer them on didn’t last long however as in the very next minute Aoife Cronin completed a dream response for Treaty when she slotted the ball past Niamh Reid Burke, sending the teams in at 2-1 at halftime.
On the hour mark Alannah McEvoy regained Peamount’s two goal advantage and Eleanor Ryan Doyle continued her endeavour in the golden boot race when she completed her brace just three minutes later.
Karen Duggan netted The Peas’ fifth of the game at the end of a Tiegan Ruddy corner kick to draw a line under the game in the 85th minute, heading the ball past Michaela Mitchell for the final time of the match.
The implication of the three points manifests Peamount at the top of the table again, level with The Reds but edging ahead only on goals scored.
While the weather may have been scorching so too is the WNL heading into the business end of the season between James O'Callaghan’s ladies and their Dublin rivals.

Treaty, who are sixth in the table themselves on nine points, have become synonymous with drive and spirit amongst their players lately, goals in the dying embers underscoring many of their recent results.
Interchanging the summit position with The Reds of Shelbourne in recent weeks, any opportunity to accumulate points must be snatched with two hands by Dublin’s answer to the Girls in Green if they are to win the title yet again.
