Wexford grabbed all three points after a cagey affair with Galway at Eamonn Deacy Park this afternoon.

Youths went 1-0 up after a good strike from Edel Kennedy 31 minutes in.

The two sides seemed to be well matched as both struggled to create chances and both defences seemed to be solid.

Galway can take positives from the match as they were competitive from the start just struggling to fashion any major chance.

Wexford showed their class and experience as they take all the spoils back to the South East.

The opening exchanges were very cagey with both sides struggling to create chances or get a real foothold in the game.

With each team getting corners early on it seemed as though it would be an end to end spectacle this was not the case. 

Passes were going astray and good defending led to turnovers, so there wasn't a lot in the tune of chances.

16 minutes in Wexford had an opportunity, a goalmouth scramble was well blocked, a chance that could have seen the away side take the lead. 

Galway struggled to get to grips with the game during this stage and good pressure from Youths were causing issues for the hosts. 

Eventually that pressure paid off, after a strike from Edel Kennedy struck the back of the Galway net with 34 minutes played. 

Wexford continued to impress and went in at the break 1-0 up.

Youths started the second half with more of the same, Frawley missing the opportunity to put the away side 2-0 up after 53 minutes followed quickly by a free in a dangerous area that sailed over the bar. 

It was Wexford who had the major chances late on, with Galway failing to trouble Slaneysiders netminder Caoimh Gray.

This game finished with the away side seeing out the win in comfortable fashion delighted with their day's work.

Aisling Frawley caused issues in the second half with two chances of note on what today was her 200th appearance for Wexford Youths Women's team, an incredible achievement made even sweeter by her side getting the three points.
