Bohs bounce back to deliver Pat’s draw
Goals from Ross Tierney and Promise Omochere helped Bohemians come back to draw 2-2 against St. Pats at Richmond Park tonight in an exhilarating Dublin derby in the Premier Division.
Early goals in each half, from Billy King and Jay McClelland; gave the hosts a 2-0 lead that they failed to hold on too.
Both sides started the game at a frantic pace with Chris Forrester firing an effort wide after just a minute played.
Just after the 10-minute mark The Saints found the opener. James Talbot failed to properly control a poor back pass from Andy Lyons and in a panic proceeded to play the ball straight to the feet of Billy King. King drove towards the box and fired home from a difficult angle.
McClelland almost doubled Atheltic’s lead right before half-time, when he stripped Rory Feely of the ball but his strike hit the side-netting.
Eventually he did manage to make it two. Early in the second-half, a Forrester backheel set Jack Hickman down the wing who found McClelland at the back post for an easy tap-in.
Bohs looked depleted but were gifted a lifeline when Paddy Barrett misplaced a pass for Ross Tierney who drove towards goal for an easy finish.
The Dalymount outfit increased their intensity as tempers began to flare with several yellow cards being dished out by referee Robert Harvey.
Promise Omochere played the role of hero in Bohemians’s last game against Derry and tonight was no different. Having only been on the pitch for less than a minute he managed to bundle the ball over the line from a corner to level the score.
Both sides went in search of a winner for the remainder of the game. Tierney saw his speculative effort dip and ricochet off the crossbar, while Robbie Benson had a glorious effort in the dying minutes but he was only able to find the midriff of James Talbot.
Bohemians will turn their attention to Sunday’s home fixture against Drogheda while The Saints will welcome Sligo Rovers to Richmond Park on Friday night. These sides will meet again on the 28th of November in the AVIVA for the FAI Cup final.
