Match Report
It’s Galway who maintain their 100% record after a convincing win in St.Colmans Park. Vincent Borden continued his fine goalscoring form after 35 minutes to put the away side in the lead and it was Ronan Manning who made the best of a Charlie Lyons error to make it 2-0 for Galway as they now make it five wins from five. It was Galway who started the game the better and had Cobh on the back foot from the first minute. Both sides struggled to make any clear chances early into the match and it wasn't until the 25th minute that Galway started making their pressure count. Cobh gave away free kicks in dangerous positions with both centre backs being booked within minutes of each other. Galway’s delivery from these set pieces was poor and was easily dealt with by the home side. It was another free kick after 35 minutes which saw United break the deadlock this time a short free kick was played into the path of the inform Vincent Borden whose effort from outside the area snuck into the bottom corner to give the away side the lead. As we have seen from the Tribemen’s this season Galway displayed great character and maturity after scoring a cut out any chance of a quick Cobh Ramblers response and they went in with their 1-0 lead. Galway United came out for the second half looking to put the game to bed and Cobh really struggled to get out of their own half and keep possession. Cobh made a triple substitution after the hour mark but unfortunately for Ramblers galway struck again just three minutes later, a mistake from former United player Charlie lyons played the ball straight to Keita and Keitas effort was well saved only for the ball to find Ronan Manning in the box who happily slotted it home Galway now well in command and leading 2-0. Galway used their bench and experience to see out the game and Galway looked very dominant as they look the side to beat in the early exchanges of the first division as they brought their total to 5 wins from 5. Galway five from five with win away at Cobh
