Match Report
Finn Harps and Wexford played out a scoreless draw tonight in Ballybofey in a game that lacked many big scoring chances. There were moments throughout the game where each side was on top but neither defence were overly stretched as it was left to half chances from aerial balls for the few attempts on goal we did have. Harps now remain winless after four games but the past two games have showed promising signs for the Donegal side. Wexford meanwhile will build on another hard earned point against a side many figure to be in the top half of the table. The away side were the better of the two inside the opening twenty minutes. A series of corners from Levingston didn’t end up in much threat to Heimer in the Harps net. We had to wait 35 minutes for our first real scoring chance in the game. Hugh Douglas with the first attempt at the Harps net from a corner that forced Heimer to get down and make a decent save. This from the seventh Wexford corner off the opening half. It was a real half lacking quality chances as both sides were very evenly matched but Fin Harps looked the brighter of the sides going in at the break. It was scoreless at halftime. Both sides saw changes to their starting side before the second-half kickoff. Okwute went off injured for Harps around the half-hour mark Corbally came on at halftime for Wexford and replaced Hanratty. Harps had the first big chance of the second half. Filip Da Silva rose highest to head towards goal but his looping effort just drifted to the left of the post. The home side were looking more threatening as both sides seemingly went through phases on top. Both teams made changes as the half went on but none of the players introduced were able to cause much immediate effect as the clock ticked past the three-quarter mark of the fixture. A huge blow was dealt to Wexford with five minutes to go when Aaron Robinson was stretchered off in what looked to be an innocuous challenge on the far side of the pitch. Robinson was on the scoresheet last week against Athlone. Wexford did finish with ten men as Levingston limped off and they had used their allocated substitution spots but the away side managed to hold on for a point. Finn Harps travel to Longford next week whilst Wexford host a Kerry team at Ferrycarrig Park who will be looking to regroup after a thumping away to Galway tonight.Wexford Take Point Back Down The Road In Ballybofey Affair
