Galway Hand Kerry First Heavy Defeat In Debut Season
A tough night in the west for Kerry FC as they fell to a tremendous Galway United performance. It was a wake up call to the side from the south as they just couldn't cope with the quality of an impressive United side.
A first half Hat Trick from Ed McCarthy insured the points where staying in the west as Galway ran out eventual 9-1 winners on the night as United extended their winning start to the campaign.
In Kerry’s first visit to Eamonn Deacy Park after Galways impressive start to the season it was always going to be difficult for the newly established side.
Galway started the game the brightest pinning Kerry back and the away side struggled to deal with United attacking intent.

Things got worse for Kerry after 35 minutes Vincent Borden was set free beating an offside trap having acres between himself and the goal he galloped into the Kerry area before giving Lomboto a much deserved tap in squaring it to the forward to easily finish.
Ed McCarthy finished off the first half by completing his hat trick, his fantastic strike from just inside the area hitting the back of the net as Galway went in at the break 5-0!!
The Second half was much of the same for Galway they started the better and kept Kerry on the back foot.
Kerry although on the back foot prevented Galway from extending their lead for the first 15 minutes off the second half.
Ibrahim Keita just off the bench opened the scoring for the second half after 62 minutes he was found by Darren Clarke after a quick throw and Keita finished well into the corner.
Kerry got a goal of their own on the 67th minute Ryan Kelliher headed past Brendan Clarke who will be disappointed to lose his clean sheet!
Keita got his second a tame effort plundered by the Kerry keeper and it rolled over the line to extend Galways lead to 7-1.
After 83 minutes gone Stephen Walsh was brought down in the area by Wayne Guthrie Walsh who earned the penalty stepped up and slotted home himself for his first goal of the evening bringing Galways total to 8-1.
Walsh added another in injury time bringing his total to two and Uniteds to 9.
A tough Evening for the away side but this is the early stages of Kerry's project coming up against a Galway side in the latter stages of their development no shame for Kerry, Galway March on!
