Match Report

Bohemians Head To The Summit After Northside Derby Triumph

Goals in each half from Jonathan Afolabi and substitute Dean Williams saw Bohemians move back to the top of the table.

This result was a third defeat in a row for Pat’s who were greeted with rounds of boos at the end of the game.
Afolabi opened the scoring in the 18th minute with Williams sealing a fine win in the second minute of stoppage time. Pat’s ended the game with 10 men after Jamie Lennon was sent off for a second yellow in the 72nd minute.

The home side started the game well and had the ball in the back of the net in the second minute but Chris Forrester’s goal was disallowed.

Bohs began to come into the game and in the 18th minute they broke the deadlock through Afolabi. Paddy Kirk played the ball to Ali Coote, he deftly chipped the ball over the Pat’s defence and Afolabi powerfully headed home. In stoppage time Jay McGrath had a chance from a header for Pat’s but he directed it wide.

Pat’s started the second half well. Vladislav Krieda put a fine ball into the box but Mulraney just couldn't get a proper touch on it in the 48th minute. Minutes later Bohs netminder James Talbot pulled off a good save to keep his goal intact.

Pat’s were reduced to 10 men in the 72nd minute when Jamie Lennon was shown a second yellow card for a tough challenge on Coote.

Bohs came close to doubling their advantage in the 78th minute; James McManus played a long ball down to substitute Dean Williams, his neat pass fell to Jordan Flores but his fine strike brought an excellent save out of Odumosu.

Down the other end Sam Curtis’ made a fine run and his shot was diverted out for a corner as the home side tried to get back on level terms. In the 88th minute Pat’s substitute Conor Carty squandered a good chance; another sub, Serge Atakayi played the ball to him and with time and lots of space Carty blasted his effort wide.

Williams sealed the win in stoppage time. A mess-up at the back for Pat’s allowed Grant Horton to pick up possession and he set Williams up who made no mistake.
