Match Report

Peamount advance to last Eight

Peamount showed their quality as a top WNL side as they defeated non-league Finglas United 16-0 in the FAI Women's Cup first round at PRL Park this evening.

First-half hattricks from Alannah McEvoy and Aine O'Gorman saw the Peas soar into a 6-0 lead by the 27th minute.

A Tara O'Hanlon corner would deflect off Lauren Douglas into goal ten minutes later to put the home side further ahead.

Sadbh Doyle scored on 43 minutes to put Peamount up 8-0 going into the break.

McEvoy tapped in her fourth goal of the game after half-time while an excellent Michelle Doonan strike made it 10-0 before the hour mark.

Goals from Stephanie Roche, Aisling Spillane, a Lauren Kelly hattrick and a Finglas own-goal would follow to see Peamount ease into the next Cup round.

The Peas controlled play from the off and Finglas struggled to cope with the pressing of the home side.

The visitors failed to string passes together and found themselves faced with surge after surge forward from the two-time FAI Cup champions.

Peamount opened scoring in the third minute, when Sadbh Doyle's shot was saved by Finglas 'keeper Lauren Douglas, Alannah McEvoy was there for the follow up to open scoring in the third minute.

A second goal followed for the McEvoy five minutes later when she used her pace to burn her marker from the right wing and struck past the goalkeeper.

The Peas press was relentless and Finglas struggled to play it out from the back.

Ireland international Aine O'Gorman rushed down a Finglas defender in the tenth minute to win back possession and strike past Douglas to open her account.

O'Gorman struck again before the 20 minute mark after an assist from McEvoy in the Finglas area.

The duo combined again only minutes later when O'Gorman smartly played it back to McEvoy in front of goal for the winger to complete her hat-trick.

McEvoy returned the favour soon after when she assisted O'Gorman in scoring her third of the game.

A Douglas own-goal would extend Peamount's lead in the 37th minute while Doyle grabbed a goal just before the break.

Although Peamount made several substitutes at half-time, the scoring onslaught would continue into the second-half.

McEvoy netted again before Michelle Doonan put ten goals between the sides with a strike from outside the box on 58 minutes.

Stephanie Roche would then get in on the act with a goal of her own before

Lauren Kelly, only introduced in the 52nd minute, but she would strike three goals of her own between the 72nd and 82nd minute.

A late own-goal by a Finglas defender would see the game end 16-0 in Peamount's favour.
