Match Report

Bohemians Record Emphatic Result Over Treaty United

Two goals and an assist from the excellent Abbie Brophy helped Bohemians to a 4-0 victory over Treaty United at the Markets Field this evening in the WNL.

Led by Brophy, the visitors had the home side on the run from the off but their end product was lacking for much of the opening half.

That was until 41 minutes when a Rachel Doyle shot took a fortunate deflection to beat Treaty 'keeper Trish Fennelly and sent the visitors into a deserved lead.

A second goal came soon after the restart when the pacey Brophy closed down on goal from the right and beat the Treaty 'keeper to make it 2-0.

Brophy would net again soon after after she took advantage of a poor backpass to Fennelly from Alix Mendez.

Some more great work by Brophy saw the winger evade her markers and send a pinpoint cross into the Treaty box for Niamh Prior to volley in a fourth goal for the Gypsies on 68 minutes.

Though Bohemians dominated this encounter, Treaty would have the first big scoring opportunity of the game.

Shannen O'Donovan raced down on goal on 4 minutes to block the clearance of Rachael Kelly but the following deflection fell fortunately for Bohs and they cleared their lines.

After that scare, the Dubliners would do almost everything right to trouble Treaty but just couldn't find the back of the net.

Bohs' front three of Brophy, Erica Burke and Kira Bates-Crosbie proved a real handful for the Shannon-siders' backline as they attacked at pace though they struggled to find goal.

The away side thought they had gone ahead when they scored through Brophy just before the ten minute mark but an offside was called to Treaty's relief.

The Limerick side must have been happy to have not conceded early as they have done on so many occasions this season but the Gypsies ensured they had little time to relax as they attacked relentlessly.
Each side had a decent chance at taking the lead after half an hour of play.

First O'Donovan was able to break and run at the visitors goal but her attempted lob over the onrushing Kelly had just too much on it while at the other end Brophy hit over from close range.

It looked as if the sides would go into the break level as half-time approached but fortune favoured the bold Bohemians when Doyle's deflected attempt sent the visitors ahead.

Soon after the break Bohs had their second goal when Brophy finished an excellent run by beating the Treaty 'keeper.

Brophy would have another goal to her name shortly after when she pounced on a mix-up between fullback Mendez and Fennelly to net the visitors' third goal.
The winger was again involved in Bohs' fourth and final goal as she crossed for Prior to hit home.
