Peamount United hammer Treaty in PRL Park
Peamount stormed to their third decisive victory over Treaty United this season as they beat the Limerick side 6-0 at PRL Park in the WNL this evening.
Tara O'Hanlon opened scoring on 6 minutes when she was put through on goal.
The home side would score two more goals in the minutes leading up to half-time, as Erin McLaughlin and Aine O'Gorman hit the target.
A spectacular goal from Alannah McEvoy extended Peas' lead immediately after half-time and O'Gorman would get her second soon after to make it 5-0 to the home team.
Lauryn O'Callaghan struck Peas' sixth goal with a minute remaining.
It didn't take Peamount long after kick-off to begin piling up attempts on the visitors' goal.
Cutting in from the left flank, Tara O'Hanlon proved a danger to the Treaty defence and her efforts were rewarded with the game's first goal.
It was yet another early concession for the Limerick side but they became more difficult to break down after that.
It was clear the Mid-Westerners came to PRL with a good defensive performance in mind and their pressing in midfield won them a number of turnovers from which they could launch attacks.
Treaty let themselves down up front though, and failed to trouble Peamount's Niamh Reid-Burke on any occasion.
Despite their dogged opponents, Peas would have all the chances and Stephanie Roche and Aine O'Gorman had several opportunities to extend the home side's lead go amiss.
Peamount's pressure told in the end, however, and they would grab two more goals minutes before half-time.
A great display of dribbling saw Erin McLaughlin work her way into the Treaty box and shoot from around 18-yards out to net a wonderful second goal for Peamount on 41 minutes.
Ireland international O'Gorman finally struck goal on 44 minutes when she hit the crossbar and the ball bounced down across the line to see Peas three ahead before the break.
A blistering start to the second half would see Peas net two more in quick succession.
An Alannah McEvoy cross-come-shot from the right wing hit the upright and entered goal on 46 minutes and O'Gorman netted her second goal on 47 minutes after she was put in on goal by McLaughlin.
O'Callaghan would deliver a final blow for Peamount in the final minutes to see the Dublin side maintain their pressure on the sides above them in the WNL.
