Match Report
First point of the season for Treaty in WNL
Treaty United earned their first point of the season after a 0-0 draw with Sligo Rovers in Markets Field today.
Although chances were at a premium and a draw is probably fair, Treaty may feel aggrieved after an Amy Madden screamer was deemed to have not crossed the line in the 38th minute.
The first resemblance of a chance came just six minutes in. Emma Doherty was played through but just hesitated on the ball, having her shot blocked.
Treaty came agonisingly close on a few occasions, the first of which came in the 20th minute. Aislinn Meaney went through on goal and the ball sat up well for her but her dink hit the underside of the bar before bouncing off the line and out.
The visitors would have a good chance just four minutes later. Gemma McGuinness got the ball on the left and cut onto her right foot, but her effort was at a good height for Trish Fennelly Hunt.
At the half hour mark Emma Doherty came close for the visitors. She turned just inside the box onto her left foot, but her effort whistled just slightly wide.
The aforementioned talking point came eight minutes after. Amy Madden had a chance from range and her effort clipped off where the bar and post meet. It looks like the ball then hit the back of the woodwork, not touching the net. The ref couldn’t see that it had gone in and didn’t give a goal. Don O’Riordan may be rightfully furious.
Just three minutes later it appeared as if they were jinxed. Heidi O’Sullivan cut inside and worked the open space well, but her curler hit the bar. No luck for the bottom of the league club.
The second half was very flat. Treaty would have the half’s best chances near the end of it.
Firstly, with ten minutes to spare, the ball was played to O’Sullivan just outside the area. She chested it down and had a crack, forcing Amy Mahon to scramble and palm it away.
But the chance of the game came in the 90th minute. Jesse Mendez played Meaney through on goal and with the win at her mercy, her effort went agonisingly wide.
Treaty can take positives following this. Sligo on the other hand, may be happy to head home with the point.

Something bizarre has just happened. Amy Madden looked to have scored a worldie after it sat up for her about 30 yards out and hit where the crossbar and post meet. Looked for sure like the ball went in but the referee didn't give it. Treaty might have good reason to feel aggrieved.

Gemma McGuinness cuts inside but her effort is at a good height for Hunt.
