Match Report

Galway Starr in Dalymount

Galway will travel home from Dalymount Park with all three points after a convincing 3-0 win over Bohemians in the Women's National League. Goals from Jenna Slattery, Emma Starr and Shauna Brennan secured the win for Alan Murphy's side.

The Tribeswomen looked the brighter of the sides early on with Chloe Singleton and Jenna Slattery looking lively from the off.

It took just five minutes for the deadlock to be broken when Slattery's finish from outside the area was too much for Rachael Kelly giving the visitors an early advantage.

It was the duo of Slattery and Singleton again which nearly doubled Galway’s lead just five minutes earlier.

Slattery’s cross found Singleton inside the area, but the attacker couldn’t find the finish and Kelly saved comfortably.

Bohs came agonisingly close to an equaliser after the quarter of an hour mark when Isobel Finnegan released a rocket from 25 yards that looked destined for the top corner. Thankfully for Galway, Abbiegayle Ronayne was equal to it and produced a top class save to deny Finnegan.

Chloe Darby was next to come close for Bohemians just after the half hour mark when she got on the end of Abbie Brophy’s cross. Sadly, for the Dalymount outfit, her volley went just wide.

Isobel Finnegan was instrumental to all things good for The Gypsies and her corner found the head of Lisa Murphy just minutes before the break. Thankfully for Galway, she couldn’t keep her effort down and the sides went into the break with Galway leading 1-0.

Galway doubled their lead ten minutes into the second period after a fantastic, curling effort from Emma Starr found the back of the net to double the visitors lead with just over half an hour left in the affair.

Just over a minute later Galway made it three after a brilliant solo run down the left wing and finish from Shauna Brennan to give her side some breathing room for the remainder of the game.
