First-half goals from Dean George and Aaron Dobbs meant that Wexford and Treaty shared the spoils at Ferrycarrig Park this evening.

The result leaves both sides positions in the table unchanged as Ian Ryan’s men remain outside of the playoff places.

Treaty got things off to a frantic start when George went on a great solo run before opening the scoring with just two minutes on the clock. 

Ian Ryan’s men didn’t take long to reply, four minutes later a deflected strike from Aaron Dobbs beat Jack Brady to make it 1-1. 

What followed those opening six minutes was a scrappy affair that produced very few chances, Treaty with a handful of corners that came to no avail. 

Conor Crowley would come close for the hosts before the break with a volley that ran across the face of goal. 

The second-half started off as a scrappy encounter much like the first with not a lot of talking points. 

It wasn’t until later on in the game that Alex Moody was called into action, making a good save at his near post from a header, before a deflected effort from Colin Conroy forced him into an acrobatic stop. 

Wexford had two claims for handballs inside the Treaty United box in quick succession but the referee waved play on.  

Dinny Corcoran provided Jack Doherty with the perfect chance for a winner with just six minutes to go, when he headed the ball down to him inside the box but Doherty’s effort found the side netting. 

Tonight’s result means that the two sides are unchanged in the table, with Wexford just three points outside of those playoff places. 

Both sides will look to keep their push for promotion going next week as Wexford travel to Cobh and Treaty host Athlone Town at Markets Field.
