Match Report

Wexford hold Bray to draw

The points were shared as Bray's early opener from Ben Feeny after six minutes was cancelled out after 12 minutes from a brilliant set piece from the home side which saw Harry Groome net the equaliser.

It was Bray who started this game the fastest, catching out Wexford who were slow to get out of the blocks.

Rob Manley had his attempt after two minutes hit off the post from a corner he climbed up well but just missed out.

Just four minutes later six minutes on the clock Bray found the back of the net, a brilliant ball whipped in at the back post from a set piece was met by Ben Feeney who slotted home from close range, a great start for the away side 1-0 up.

This woke up Wexford who responded with efforts of their own. The home side found their equaliser from a well worked corner routine taken straight off the training ground. Corner played short then flicked onto the oncoming Harry Groome who was free near the penalty spot to slot home to draw his side back level 1-1 now after 12 minutes.

Wexford would go on to dominate the preceding 20 minutes Luka Lovic playing well in the midfield returning from a spell on the sideline from an injury while Jack Doherty looked a constant threat in behind.

Dinny corcoran came closest to finding  the net, his attempt hitting the Bray Crossbar after 20 minutes.

Bray ended the half well but Wexford will feel unlucky to be level at half time!

Both sides came out fast and fiery in the second half. Wexford’s Dinny Corcoran had his attempt well saved after 46 minutes. Both sides were going back and forth without any major goal scoring opportunities. Dinny came close again after 63 minutes, his long range effort just sailing over the crossbar. A flurry of changes after the hour mark from both sides saw the game become more scrappy and open with both sides looking for the win.

The away side had an opportunity to snatch a late victory when the ref awarded a penalty after 87 minutes. Darragh Livingston stepped up but was denied by a brilliant save by Alex Moody and with only three minutes left on the clock he salvaged a draw for his side.

Both sides played out the last 5 minutes in a frantic fashion in what was an entertaining match from start to finish Bray can be disappointed not to get all three points but a draw is a fair result overall.
