A flurry of late goals saw Athlone and Treaty share the spoils in Lissywollen tonight, drawing 1-1.

Super sub Success Edogun looked to have won it in the 84th minute, but Stephen Christopher responded in the 90th minute with a lovely strike to ensure Treaty took a draw.

Treaty had a good chance about 8 minutes in when Christopher went down the left wing and pulled it back for Dean George. George let fly, but his effort was just wide of the post.

Three minutes later, Derek Daly sent a throw in straight to Carlton Ubaezuonu, who was nudged all the way en route to goal. He eventually went down, but the ref wasn’t having any of it.

Ten minutes later there was another penalty call. Joel Coustrain went down under duress and this looked like a stronger case than Ubaezuonu’s call, but once again, the ref waved claims away.

Former Athlone man Enda Curran got involved around the half hour mark. In the 29^th minute, he rose high to meet a cross, but his header dipped just over.

Three minutes later he skipped by an Athlone defender and let fly from some distance, but Schlingermann was down well to meet the effort.

Athlone had a really good chance in the 36^th minute when Gary Armstrong played through Thomas Oluwa, who worked it well onto his right and sent it to Ubaezuonu. His effort was stopped at point blank range by Jack Brady, somehow not going in.

Christopher looked like he had put Treaty in front in the 73^rd minute when he got the ball out left and cut onto his right and getting an effort off. This was deflected just wide however, inches away from going in.

The last ten minutes were hectic. Firstly, in the 84^th minute, Derek Daly sent in a low drilled cross that was met at the back post by super sub Success Edogun with his first and maybe only touch of the game. Athlone were en route to gain their first win.

Three minutes later it looked like an equaliser came. Marc Ludden met a cross at the back stick and hit the bar. The rebound fell to Lee Devitt, who missed with the goal absolutely gaping.

Treaty got that equaliser however after Stephen Christopher met a failed clearance and smashed it in on 90 minutes. A hectic final ten, but given how the game went, a fair result.
