Galway deliver thanks to vital brace
Two goals in 15 second half minutes saw Galway United get an important three points on the road at Bray Wanderers.
David Hurley from the spot and substitute Stephen Walsh repeating his feat from last week scoring from the bench for the Tribesmen as they get an important win on the road.
Doherty finished the contest in the 92nd minute from a great counter attack making it 3-1.
It was a quiet opening half in the Carlisle Grounds with both teams struggling to get any rhythm or spell of possession in the game.
Galway United had two early corners and some long throw-ins but nothing came of them.
The away side started the quicker but Bray gradually got into the game and started to settle.
Both sides resorted to long balls and counter attacks as it seemed that both sides' defences were on top.
There were 28 minutes on the clock after a good spell of possession saw Bray's Paul Fox bearing down on goal only to hit it just wide by far the home side's best effort of the half.
The rest of the half seemed to fizzle out as both sides looked set to go in level a moment of madness from Clifford a short backpass found a United player with an open goal in front of McCarthy hitting his own man in Jordan Adeyemo so the sides went in 0-0.
The Seagulls came out in the second half brighter creating small openings and getting a few set pieces.
53 minutes and a Galway counter attack with Clifford bringing Adeyemo in the Box for a penalty.
David Hurley stepped up and powered it home 1-0 to the Tribesmen.
This goal seemed to ignite both sides as the pace of the game became more end to end.
66 Minutes gone, a through ball behind the Bray backline saw Keeper Michael Kelly come out of his box only to be beaten to the ball by sub Stephen Walsh who passed the keeper and slotted it home for his second in as many games off the bench.
Immediately a great response by Bray, a great free kick crossed in by Conor Clifford was met by Hugh Douglas whos great header found the back of the net two goals in two minutes the scoreline now 2-1.
Bray had an excellent response to going 2-0 down and upped their game putting Galway under massive pressure for the remaining 20 minutes.
United did well to sustain the ever mounting pressure from the seagulls, Shane Doherty finished the game completing a great counter attack for Galway making it 3-1 sealing the points for the Connacht side.
