Match Report
Cork thrash Wanderers in Bray
Four goals in five minutes saw Cork City thrash promotion rivals Bray Wanderers 6-0 at a windy Carlisle Grounds.
The first ten minutes in particular were marred by flares being thrown onto the pitch. So much so that the fire brigade were called to tend to matters outside the stadium with referee Gavin Colfer having to stop play continuously in the first half.
Matters on the pitch took time to explode with both teams struggling to keep hold of the ball. The only notable chance early on was a ball cleared off the line on seven minutes by the Bray defence from a corner.
The game sparked into life however after 34 minutes when Cork goalkeeper Dave Harrington's route one ball through the middle found Dylan McGlade and the former Bray man found the net to give the visitors the lead.
Outside of this, it was a quiet half with Bray happy to sit back and hit on the break while Cork tried to use the wind to their advantage by pressing high up the pitch with Cian Bargary being the main threat down the right flank.
The second half which was delayed by over ten minutes due to more flare trouble lit up in stunning fashion with four Cork goals in five minutes through a brace from Celtic loanee Barry Coffey on 56 and 59 minutes while McGlade bagged another two including a lovely chip on 62 minutes to get his first hat-trick for the club.
Ruairi Keating rubbed salt into the wounds for Bray with a goal on 75 minutes as Bray continued to fall asunder as they waited for the full-time whistle. The only bright spark for the Wicklow side being Keith Dalton who hit a fine effort just off the post on 80 minutes.
Overall, it was quite an astonishing way on and off the pitch, to start the season. Bray manager Pat Devlin will have a huge job on his hands to pick up his charges ahead of a daunting trip to Waterford next while Colin Healy’s side host Galway and former City manager John Caulfield at Turners Cross.

Hard work for myself but it's all too easy for City now. Dylan McGlade gets his second. Ran straight through the middle and it\'s all too easy for Cork now.
Barry Coffey does it again, second goal within minutes. Short corner and a good cross met with an excellent header from the man on loan from Celtic.
Barry Coffey nets Cork's second goal, took advantage of some poor defending along with even poorer goalkeeping. Good strike on his right foot however.
Corner for Bray and a chance for Daniel Blackbyrne but it hits the side netting. No changes to the teams so far in the second half.
More flares on the pitch, am hearing that this was the reason for the delay in getting the second half underway.
Great ball in which is nearly finished by Paul Fox, Harrington was there to deal with it however.
Back underway for the second half at the Carlisle Grounds.
Half time at the Carlisle Grounds, scrappy game so far with few clear cut chances. McGlade's on 34 minutes the difference between the sides.
Chance for Bray from Daniel Blackbyrne at the end of half but hits it straight at the keeper.
Four minutes of additional time at the end of the first half. Could have been more considering the early disruptions.
Good play between Hakkonen and Bargary down the right channel but it ends in offside.
Bray have dominated possession since the goal but have not created anything of note.
GOAL for Cork, former Bray man gets on the end of Dave Harrington's long ball to put the Rebel Army ahead.
First corner for Bray but it comes to nothing. Goal kick.
Yellow card for Zak O'Neill after a tough challenge on it appears to Aaron Bolger who's been in the wars tonight.

Game short on chances so far, Bray looking dangerous on the break while Hakkonen and Bargary have been the main danger men for Colin Healy's side.
Cork enjoying the majority of the possession so far. Cian Bargary has been a real bright spark down the left channel.
Conditions look very difficult out there with a strong breeze swirling around the place. Uneventful game so far with regards to the football, not the case off it however.
