We are heading into the last two weekends of AIL action for 2022. There are still some huge games left to play. It’s a top of the table clash when Terenure College welcome Trinity to Lakelands Park on Saturday afternoon. 3rd play 4th when Cork Con host Clontarf and Young Munster hope to continue their winning ways when they face Pat O’Connor’s Shannon in the Limerick derby.

Terenure College are still the team to beat after they avenged last season’s final defeat to Clontarf back in May by beating them 24-29 on Saturday. Young Munster are starting to hit the right notes, beating two titan clubs in a row. Things are starting to look more upbeat in Shannon after they won a crucial game against UCD.

As we enter the last block of fixtures for 2022, there is some crackers in 1A this weekend. Last season’s final, Clontarf face unbeaten Terenure College. Young Munster look to back up their big win against Tarf last time out, with another win when they go to College Park . Shannon face UCD in what is a huge game for both.

Clontarf’s long 20 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of Young Munster on Saturday. Terenure College did Terenure college things when they beat Ballynahinch and UCD finally got their first win against Garryowen.

Terenure College and Clontarf are now out on their own at the top of the table. We ask the same question every week, can anybody cause an upset and beat one of these inform sides or will it be a straight shootout between them at the top.

Last year’s finalists Clontarf and Terenure College are the only unbeaten teams left in the division after Tarf dashed Trinity’s hopes with a late try. Shannon finally got up and running since promotion with a good derby win against Garryowen on Friday night.

We are almost a quarter of the way through the regular season and things are already getting interesting. Forget the Autumn Internationals for a minute, there is still lots of exciting games taking place across the AIL.
