Preview: AIL – Men’s Division 1A

Round 16 of the Energia All-Ireland Division 1A gets underway on Saturday afternoon, as Clontarf head to Temple Hill to square off with Cork Constitution.

Clontarf enter the game red hot after defeating Lansdowne and Terenure College in recent weeks, while Cork Constitution find themselves in fourth place.

Terenure College vs Young Munster, Lakelands Park

Terenure College will look to return to winning ways as they square off with Young Munster at Lakelands Park.

The hosts saw their extraordinary 10 game winning run come to an end two weeks ago as they fell to a slender 12-11 defeat away at Clonarf.

As for the visitors, they enter the game as underdogs and will look to build off their surprising 39-24 win at home to Lansdowne, as they look for back to back wins for the first time since January.

Cork Constitution vs Clontarf, Temple Hill

Cork Constitution will look to earn their ninth win of the season as they welcome league leaders Clontarf to Temple Hill.

The two teams played out a thriller in the reverse fixture, as Clontarf edged Cork Constitution 31-24 at Castle Avenue in round 3.

The hosts will look to halt Clontarf’s stunning 10 game winning run, which has seen them defeat second placed Lansdowne and third placed Terenure College in the last two rounds.

Lansdowne vs UCC, Aviva Stadium

Lansdowne will look to halt a losing slide as they face UCC at Aviva Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts have struggled for consistency since Christmas, losing three matches including their last two against Clontarf and Young Munster. As a result, Lansdowne are in desperate need of a win as they look to end the season on a high.

As for UCC, they find themselves rock bottom of Division 1A, with just one win. The hosts will also relish the prospect of facing a UCC defence that has shipped 463 points this season.

UCD vs Garryowen, Belfield

Eighth placed UCD square off with Garryowen at Belfield in Division 1A.

UCD will be looking to win their third straight match, while Garryowen will be looking to build off their 29-26 win over Ballynahinch.

Ballynahinch vs Dublin University, Ballymacarn Park

Sixth placed Dublin University head to Ballymacarn Park as they face struggling Ballynahinch.

The two teams played out a tight fixture earlier this season, as Dublin University edged Ballynahinch 19-13 at College Park.
