Preview: AIL – Men’s Division 1A

The final round of the Energia All-Ireland Division 1A gets underway on Saturday afternoon, as Terenure College host UCC and Lansdowne face Cork Constitution at Temple Hill

Clontarf remain in red hot form, winning 16 of their 17 games this season and visit Belfield to take on UCD.

Cork Constitution vs Lansdowne, Temple Hill

Playoff implications are on the line at Temple Hill as Lansdowne face Cork Constitution on the final day of the regular season.

There is much at stake for both teams, with Cork Constitution in desperate need of a win to remain in fourth. A win for Cork will earn them a trip to Clontarf in the semi-finals, but a loss could see Dublin University overtake Cork Constitution.

As for Lansdowne, the visitors are currently set for a trip to Terenure College, but with a win and a Terenure defeat Lansdowne will host the second semi-final at Aviva Stadium.

Terenure College vs UCC, Lakelands Park

Terenure College will look to wrap up the second seed as they welcome UCC to Lakelands Park in Division 1A.

The hosts have their fate in their own hands this weekend, with a win guaranteeing Terenure a home semi-final against Lansdowne next weekend. A loss could see them fall to third.

Terenure have been battle tested in the last two rounds, and head into this game off the back of wins against Young Munster and Lansdowne

Garryowen vs Dublin University, Dooradoyle

Garryowen will look to throw a spanner into the works as they welcome Dublin University to Dooradoyle in round 18.

Dublin University are in desperate need of results to go in their favour this weekend, starting with a win against Garryowen away from home.

The hosts stunned Dublin University in the reverse fixture, winning 10-35 at College Park in round one. Could history repeat itself once again? And will Garryowen deny Dublin University a playoff appearance?

Ballynahinch vs Young Munster, Ballymacarn Park

Ballynahinch could end a disappointing season on a high as they face Young Munster on the final day of the regular season.

The hosts need to claim just one point to relegate UCC, and should they earn a point they will square off with Highfield or Shannon in the relegation playoff.

UCD vs Clontarf, Belfield

Eighth placed UCD welcome league leaders Clontarf to Belfield in the division’s dead rubber fixture this weekend.

Clontarf have already locked up the number one seed heading into this weekend, while UCD guaranteed their survival, after winning three of their last five matches.
