Youthful Munster sink Scarlets

A youthful and changed Munster side, picked up an impressive 43-13 bonus point win, over the Scarlets in this afternoon’s meeting at Parc Y Scarlet.

The visitors managed six tries, in a fantastic display, with Jeremey Loughman, Chris Cloete, Jack O’Sullivan, Calvin Nash and a brace by Liam Coombes helping them on their cause. Ben Healy again wore the Number Ten jersey with pride, in a fantastic display.

Scarlets could not get into the tie, only managing a single try as Johnny McNicholl crossed, with Sam Costelow adding two penalties.

There was for the Irish side as RG Snyman, was forced off with a suspected knee injury.

Munster got the opening score in the 4th minute, O’Sullivan crossing for the try, he received the pass from the maul by Neil Cronin, and powered his through to score, Healy added the conversion.

Scarlets fly-half Costelow had a chance to cut the gap, and add three points from a penalty, but he had a poor connection and the ball went to the left and wide.

Healy extended the province ead to 10-0 on the ten minute mark, the fly-half making no mistake from thirty meters.

The Welsh side looked to have got their opening try minutes later, Steff Evans crossing in the corner, but a great tackle by Nash, had him just outside the touch line as he crossed down.

Costelow got his side's first points in the 16th minute, the visitors penalised for not moving away, as the lead was down to seven points, 10-3.

Munster crossed for try number two in the 23rd minute, Healy finding Nash on the wing, he found Coombes inside who drove for the line. Healy converted to make it 17-3. 

The home side got their try just before the half hour mark, a horrible bounce turned the ball over, as Costelow kicked forward and McNicholl chased down the kick to cross over, Costelow added the extras and a penalty minutes later, to cut the Munster lead down to four.

Nash crossed in the corner for his side's third try in the 37th minute, Healy missing the resulting difficult conversion. 

O’Donoghue was penalised for a high tackle minutes later, Costelow kicked the resulting penalty to the right and wide, as the referee blew for half time, Munster leading 22-13.

The side secured the bonus point, just four minutes into the second half, Jeremy Loughman crossed over to score on the back of a maul. Healy again with the conversion, 29-13 

The Red Army got their fifth try just before the hour mark, Coombes with his second of the afternoon, O’Donoghue did well to break clear and kick forward, with Coombes putting the afterburners on to chase and cross over the line, to make it 36-13.

The Scarlets defence were left red faced by the Munster attack, Cloete crossing for their sixth, after some awful defending minutes later, after a short TMO decision, Healy added the conversion, their final score to make it 43-13.
