Match Report

2B Relg PO Prev: Ballina V Galwegians

Round two of Division 2B play-off kicks off at 2:30 this afternoon in Heffernan Park.  Both Galwegians and Ballina are desperate to remain in division 2B. With an aggregate score of 34-19 to the visitors, it may prove a challenge for Ballina.

With a slight reshuffle of the Galwegians replacements their team remains relatively unchanged aside from tighthead replacement Diego Vergara. ‘Wegians will be looking to build on their 34-19 win over the hosts, last weekend. Their tails are up with two wins over the last 2 weekends and have their sights set on staying put in division 2B.

It is looking likely that Ballina’s star number ten, Harry West will return to Ballina’s backline. After last week’s second half performance, it’s only natural to have huge confidence in this Ballina side. They had the upper hand for a lot of last week’s game. They just proved unlucky on capitalising off their possession.

Every encounter between the two sides has been exciting and unpredictable. Mickey Murphy slotting into nine adds a depth of experience to Ballina’s backline. Harry West will put it up to Galwegians Morgan Codyre in the hope that he can get his team back in the game early on.

With an aggregate score of 34-19 to Galwegians, Ballina do have a mountain to climb. However, it’s far too soon to tell which side will be victorious. Ballina have the hunger of ending a two-match run of defeats to Galwegians.
