AIL Roundup: Women’s Energia Cup Week 7

Railway Union and UL Bohemian both remain unbeaten as the Energia All-Ireland Women’s Cup, Plate and Shield finals continue to take shape.

Cooke 8-49 Galwegians, Shaw’s Bridge

Galwegians secured their third win of the cup series after a strong showing on the road in Belfast.

Hannah Downey added a penalty in the opening half for their only score as they trailed 20-3, Aishling O’Connell added a try in the second, but a hat trick by Ursula Sammon, a brace by Grace Browne Moran and further tries from Orla Dixon, Maelle Jouve, Olivia Haverty and Maria Gorham secured the tie for Wegians.

Ballincollig 7-67 Railway Union, Tanner Park

Railway Union made it seven from seven after controlling the tie on Leeside.

Railway moved 26-0 clear by half time and again showed their scoring power in the second, Kelly Griffin scored a consolation try in the second half, but hat tricks from Stephanie O’Carroll and Aoife McDermott, a brace from Chisom Ugwueru and tries from Christine Coffey, Grainne O’Loughlin and Megan Collis made it an 11 try win.

Suttonians 5-22 Old Belvedere, JJ McDowell Memorial Gardens

Old Belvedere made it two wins from two as they overcame Suttonians.

Melissa Hayden and Elise O’Byrne White both crossed for opening half tries, Jemma Farrell converted one and added a penalty for a 15-0 lead at the break, Emma Catherine Jordan added a consolation for Sutts but Hannah Wilson crossed in the half as Belvedere showed their class.

UL Bohemian 24-7 Wicklow, Annacotty

The Robins made it six wins in a row as they controlled the tie against a battling Wicklow.

Chloe Pearse and Stephanie Nunan both added opening half tries converted by Kate Flannery, into the second half Caoimhe Molloy crossed for a try with Beth Roberts converting, however Lily Brady and Flannery both added tries to see out the tie.
