AIL Preview: Women’s Energia Cup Week 7

Week 7 of the Women’s Cup sees Railway Union bidding to keep their unbeaten run for silverware alive, while UL Bohs also unbeaten race a tough test in the form of Wicklow.

Cooke V Galwegians, Sat 25th March, Shaw’s Bridge, 11:30am

Cooke suffered a fourth straight loss last time out and will look for a better outcome as they welcome Galwegians.

The Ulster side were heavily beaten last time out by Old Belvedere and hope to bounce back in this tie, Galwegians meanwhile never saw their tie with Blackrock be played with the official result being a 0-0 draw, both will be out for a positive outcome this weekend.

Ballincollig V Railway Union, Sat 25th March, Tanner Park, 5pm

Unbeaten Railway Union look to make it seven wins in a row as they travel to Ballincollig.

The hosts have struggled in the cup just one in so far from their five games, leaving them second from bottom needing a big result, while the visitors are again the side to beat as they have looked a clear favourite for silverware.

Suttonians V Old Belvedere, Sat 25th March, JJ McDowell Memorial Gardens, 5pm

Old Belvedere climbed to sixth from the bottom of the table last weekend after their first win, this weekend they hope for another win against bottom placed Suttonians.

Sutts are yet to score a win and are out to change that, their only point coming from a losing bonus point, Belvedere put in a great showing last time out and will look to claw back Wegians in fifth spot if they record another win.

UL Bohemian V Wicklow, Sat 25th March, Annacotty, 5pm

A real mouth watering tie on Shannonside as second placed UL look to make it six games unbeaten against a strong third placed Wicklow.

The Robins never played last time out so will be well rested coming into this tie, their last result came in a 43-11 win over Blackrock, they showed their quality that day but Wicklow are a top quality side who have four wins under their belt this campaign.
