AIL Preview: Women’s Energia Cup Week 5

The fifth round of action in the cup sees Railway Union and UL Bohs looking to remain unbeaten, Bohs face a tricky tie heading to Stradbrook, elsewhere Sutts and Belvo are looking for their first wins.

Blackrock College V UL Bohemian, Saturday 4th March, Stradbrook, 5pm

UL look to keep their unbeaten run alive in the cup heading to third placed Blackrock.

The hosts have been strong in the cup despite their heavy loss to Railway in early February, they have seen players unable to feature and with the Irish squad named a host may be able to come and get minutes.

UL meanwhile bid to make it five wins on the trot if they can overcome the side that defeated them in the league semi final, they have had a good run going and look to keep it up.

Cooke V Railway Union, Saturday 4th March, Shaw’s Bridge, 5pm

Another side bidding to remain unbeaten is Railway going into their fifth cup outing, while for Cooke they only have one win in three.

Cooke returned to action last weekend but fell to defeat at Wicklow, they had some time off but returning to action they are looking for a big scalp by toppling Railway.

Railway were dominant in the league just missing out in the final and now are really staking their claim for a cup triumph, they were knocked off top spot last weekend on score difference and will look to reclaim that position.

Galwegians V Old Belvedere, Saturday 4th March, Crowley Park, 5pm

Galwegians hope to make good of home advantage and inflict further woes on bottom placed Old Belvo.

Wegians suffered a hefty setback last weekend losing heavily to Railway, but this time around are still searching for their second win of the season, they have a strong squad and hope points can follow.

Bevlo have struggled so far in the cup with three straight defeats, they head West hoping that they can find their feet and get a huge result to get them back on winning ways.

Suttonians V Wicklow, Saturday 4th March, JJ McDowell Memorial Gardens, 5pm

Wicklow are bidding for their third win in the cup but Suttonains are out hunting for their first win of the season.

League form was not ideal for Sutts but three defeats in the cup they want to get a win secured to boost their confidence.

Wicklow on the other hand looked really strong last weekend but will have to put a defeat to Galwegians in recent weeks behind if they want a good showing in the cup, sitting in fourth they could move higher if they can get the right results.
