AIL Preview: Women’s Division

Just the one fixture this week in the AIL Women’s Division, Cooke host Suttonians in a refixed tie that was originally down for decision on the opening day.

Cooke V Suttonians, Friday October 30th, Shaw’s bridge, 8pm.

Suttonians will come into the tie hoping to get their first win of the season, having already notched three for their tally in the opening two games, Cooke have struggled so far and are desperate to get points up at this early stage.

Cooke have had two heavy defeats 40-7 against Blackrock was followed by a 29-5 scoreline against Galwegians, they have shown spirit and character in how they have played, Doloroes Hughes and Helen McGhee are the only scorers for them so far, a home performance may do them the world of good.

Sutts have had a tale of two fortunes when it comes to their opening two fixtures, they battled back well to tie the game with Galwegians in a ten try thriller, but were brought down to earth the last time out against Belvedere.

Shannon Tuohey crossed for their only try in a 24-7 defeat at the weekend, a heavy defeat against an early title favourite may have knocked their spirts a little, but that showing on the opening day has shown that they can compete in this division.
