AIL Preview: Division 2C Week 17

Skerries and Tullamore both battle it out for a second place, defeat for Sundays Well would see them relegated, while Ballina, Midelton and Omagh hope to not follow suit via the play-offs.

Sundays Well V Midleton, Fri 31st March, Musgrave Park, 8pm

It is make or break for Sundays Well as if they lose this tie with Midleton they will be relegated from Div 2C.

Well came within a whisker of a big win last weekend on the road to Ballina, but now sit seven points adrift of the play-off spot, a win would see them needing a bonus point win on the final day but score difference is also not on their side.

Midleton meanwhile sit seventh, locked in a three way battle to see who can avoid the dreaded relegation play-off, they are ahead of Ballina on score difference and a point ahead of Omagh, a win here would certainly boost their chances.

Ballina V Bangor, Sat 1st April, Heffernan Park, 2:30pm

Ballina too will hope to jump up the table if they get a result, one that could see Bangor come into the relegation mix.

It is now the time for big performances as we saw from Ballina last weekend they produced a huge second half comeback to snatch a crucial bonus point win over another side in the mix, they need to use home advantage being on the road next time out.

Bangor sit five points above the chasing paco for survival and a win here would see them not have to worry about the threat of going down, if they can overcome losing their last two games and show their quality they can get a result here.

Bruff V Tullamore, Sat 1st April, Kilballyowen Park, 2:30pm

Bruff have just two games left to try jump Clonmel into fourth spot, but Tullamore have eyes on second place.

The Treaty men know a bonus point win on home soil would move them ahead of Clonmel if they suffer defeat to Omagh, Bruff hard done last weekend against a tough Skerries side will look to try end on a high note and finish what they have worked so hard to get.

Tullamore are two points behind Skerries and with the Goats having a tricky test this weekend, Tullamore will hope for a win knowing what awaits them next time out in the form of the league winners.

Clonmel V Omagh Academicals, Sat 1st April, Ardghaoithe, 2:30pm

Looking to avoid a fourth straight loss in their latter stages of the season, Clonmel host Omagh with impacts at both ends of the table.

Clonmel will want to secure their fourth spot sooner than later with Bruff on their tails, with just two games left they need a result here no matter how great or small should Tullamore win their tie a draw, or bonus point would see them five ahead before the last weekend.

Omagh were big winners over Midelton at the weekend, but they are still in the drop zone, knowing the result of Well Midleton ahead of time, they will know a win here is needed regardless to see themselves fight for survival.

Instonians V Skerries, Sat 1st April, Shaws Bridge, 2:30pm

The meeting of the top two will be a standout tie this weekend, a win for Skerries would see them in good shape to secure second in the table.

Instonians stand in their way however, the side who have laid waste to the division this season, strong at both ends of the field with 16 bonus point wins in a row, they hammered Skerries away from home in the second round, this tie will be a tricky test for them.

The visitors have been on an impressive winning streak of their own, having not lost a game since the 10th of December, they seek what is the biggest scalp of 2C and that is overcoming a powerhouse, Skerries fell in the 2C final last year, this time they need to finish the job.
