AIL Roundup: Division 1B Week 9 Refixed

Three games took place in 1B this weekend. City of Armagh keep the pressure on top of the table Buccaneers. Old Wesley and Highfield sit nicely in the top half of the table after getting well earned victories this weekend. 

Banbridge 26-36 Old Wesley, Rifle Park

A strong first half display was enough to earn Old Wesley a victory on the road against Banbridge on Saturday, keeping them firmly in the top half of the table.

The men from Donnybrook managed to keep their opponents scoreless in the opening 40 minutes. They had a 31-point leverage going into the break.

The hosts fought back hard in the second half to score four tries and reduce the deficit. Ulster player Rob Lyttle scoring one of the tries.

Although the damage was done and Old Wesley came away with the 36-26 victory.

St Mary’s College 14-34 Highfield, Templeville Road

Highfield did something very few teams’ mange to do by getting a convincing win in Templeville Road over an inform St Mary’s College.

The Cork side scored four tries on their way to a full five points. James Taylor, Sean French, Richard Cassidy, Cian Bohane,  and Colin O’Neill got all their tries.

Hugo Cooney scored a brace for the home side.

Malone 11-13 City of Armagh, Gibson Park

City of Armagh came out the right side of a low scoring Ulster derby, to keep them right behind league leaders Buccaneers.
