Review: Lidl NFL Div 4 Group A & B

Fermanagh claimed their first win in Group A with Erin Tierney’s goal the difference in Darver against Carlow. In Group B Limerick staged a remarkable comeback but were denied the win by a superb point from Leitrim’s Siomha Quinn.

Group A

London 1-07 Antrim 9-19

Antrim recorded a convincing win away to London to make it two wins from two in Division 2.

Claire O’Brien got the Exiles’ goal.

London kicked over six early points before O’Brien opened London’s tally with a point. Antrim responded straight away with a goal and a point. The lead was 2-11 to 0-2 at half-time.

London got the opening point of the second half but like before Antrim hit back with a goal. They were to add six more goals to their tally in this impressive display.

Fermanagh 1-11 Carlow 2-05

A goal from Erin Tierney helped Fermanagh to their first win in Group A in a tight contest with Carlow in Darver.

The sides were level when Tierney got the Ernesiders goal with just one minute of normal time remaining. A Róisín O’Reilly free had drawn them level three minutes earlier.

Carlow grabbed a goal in the 19th minute through Sara Doyle but Fermanagh were able to hold a narrow one point lead at the interval.

A goal and a pointed free from Cliodhna Ní She saw Carlow lead by two entering the final five minutes but Fermanagh replied with 1-2 without reply to claim the win.

Group B

Limerick 4-09 Leitrim 1-18

A point from Siomha Quinn earned Leitrim a draw as the top two sides in Group B couldn’t be separated in Rathkeale this afternoon.

Leitrim had been ahead by nine at the break but Limerick produced an excellent second half performance to get themselves back into the game with substitute Iris Kinneally scoring 2-2 after her introduction.

Michelle Guckian scored 1-7 for Leitrim who will have mixed emotions about this game.

Wicklow 10-21 Kilkenny 0-02

Wicklow bounced back from their defeat to Limerick last time out to record a big win over Kilkenny in Baltinglass.

The win coupled with the draw between the top two sides sees Wicklow just one point off a semi-final spot with Leitrim up next for them.

Wicklow held an unassailable 6-10 to 0-1 lead at half-time. They were just as ruthless and clinical after the break.
