Review: Lidl NFL Div 4 Group A & B

The Division 4 semi-finalists are now known as Fermanagh, Antrim, Limerick and Leitrim all had excellent wins to advance to the final four. 

Group A

Fermanagh 3-10 London 0-06

Fermanagh secured their place in the Division 4 semi-final with a fine win over London in Donagh this afternoon.

The Ernesiders got off to a perfect start with Laura Grew getting their first goal with six minutes gone on the clock. They went in at the break 1-6 to 0-4 ahead.

They dominated the second half. Aoife Flanagan got thor second goal in the 44th minute. Courteney Murphy got their third goal with three minutes of normal time remaining. 

Antrim 6-16 Carlow 2-07

Antrim were impressive as they made it three wins from three and advanced to the Division 4 semi-final with an impressive win over Carlow

The game was over as a contest at half-time with Antrim holding a 4-10 to 1-4 lead. Grainne McLaughlin, Cathy Carey, Bronagh Devlin and Theresa Mellon scored the goals in a first half rout.

Antrim were ruthless in the second half. McLaughlin scored her second and her side’s fifth goal with Laura Agnew grabbing a sixth near the end.

Group B

Derry 0-04 Limerick 2-07

Iris Kennelly scored twice as Limerick booked their place in the Division 4 semi-final with a nine point win over Derry in Owenbeg.

Kennelly scored her first goal in the 20th minute to extend her side’s lead to five points. They held a lead of seven points going in at the interval.

Kennelly added a second goal after the break as the Shannonsiders remain unbeaten as last year’s beaten finalists advanced to the last four. 

Wicklow 0-09 Leitrim 3-13

Unbeaten Leitrim booked their place in the Division 4 semi-final with a 13 point victory away to Wicklow this afternoon.

There were two points between the sides when Laura O’Dowd found the back of the net to give Jonny Garrity’s side a five point lead going in at the break. Wicklow’s Aoife Gorman and Leitrim’s Mollie Murphy were sin binned during the opening half.

Wicklow’s Sarah Jane Winders was sin binned shortly after Gorman had returned to the play in the second half. Roisin Byrne was yellow carded for Wicklow while Ailbhe Clancy grabbed a brace (one from the penalty spot) in a fine win for Leitrim.
