Preview: Lidl NFL Div1 Week 2

Two sides that claimed wins in their opening games of the league clash in Tuam on Sunday as Galway take on Dublin. Donegal and Meath who lost to Galway and Dublin respectively will be hoping to pick up their first points when they meet in Letterkenny on Saturday afternoon.

Mayo v Kerry – Saturday 28th January, Connacht Centre of Excellence at 12.45pm

Mayo fell to Cork last week while Kerry snatched a late win over Waterford. The last time these two sides met was the All-Ireland semi-final last year which Kerry won.

Both sides have made three changes to their starting line-ups from last weekend. Kerry will be hoping for a second win while for Mayo they’ll be hoping to pick up their first win of the campaign.

Donegal v Meath – Saturday 28th January, Letterkenny at 1pm

The last time these two sides met was the All-Ireland semi-final which Meath won and then went on to lift the Brendan Martin cup. Meath also defeated Donegal in the Division 1 final so for Donegal they’ll be hoping their luck changes.

Both sides lost their opening game. Meath have named an unchanged side from the one that fell to Dublin last week while there are two changes for Maxi Curran’s side.

Galway v Dublin – Sunday 29th January, Tuam Stadium at 2pm

Both these sides made a winning start to the league. Kate Slevin kicked Galway to victory last week over Donegal while Dublin saw off rivals Meath. Carla Rowe’s early goal set the Dubs on their way to victory.

Galway will be hoping home advantage makes the difference again this weekend. A win for either side would leave them in a good position to push for a place in the Division 1 Final.

Waterford v Cork – Sunday 29th January,  Piltown at 2pm

Waterford will have mixed emotions after last weekend’s defeat to Kerry. They battled hard and looked as if they would hold on for a point only for the Kingdom to snatch the win in stoppage time. Cork got off to a winning start with victory away to Mayo.

The Deise will hope to put in another battling performance but with a change of result while for Cork they’ll be looking for more of the same. A win for either side would be crucial in the battle to avoid relegation and to push for a place in the Division 1 Final.
