Preview: Lidl NFL Div 2 Week 2

Laois will hope to pick up their second win of the league campaign when they travel to Mullingar on Sunday to take on Leinster rivals Westmeath. Armagh were impressive in their win against Cavan last weekend and will be looking for two wins from two when they visit Roscommon.

Monaghan v Tyrone – Sunday 29th January, St. Tiernach’s Park at 2pm

An Ulster derby in Clones on Sunday. Monaghan suffered defeat last weekend while Tyrone saw off the challenge of Roscommon.

It was a disappointing display from Monaghan, who were relegated from Division 1 last year. Once Laois took control there was only going to be one winner.

A young Roscommon team pushed Tyrone but in the end their experience told. After the disappointment last year of being in the relegation battle the Red Hands will be looking for a second win of the campaign and to push for promotion.

Westmeath  v Laois – Sunday 29th January, St. Loman’s at 2pm

Westmeath play host to an in-form Laois side in this Leinster derby in Mullingar on Sunday. The Lake County were beaten by Tipperary in their opening game while All-Ireland Intermediate Champions Laois had a fine win over Monaghan.

Just two points separated Westmeath and Tipp and they’ll be hoping for a change in fortunes this weekend. Laois have a potent forward line and Westmeath will have to contain them if they want to get something out of the game. A win would be crucial for either side.

Roscommon v Armagh – Sunday 29th January, Kiltoom at 2pm

A young Rossie side fell to Tyrone last weekend while Armagh swept aside the challenge of Ulster rivals Cavan.

Roscommon will take heart from their performance in Omagh. They showed promise in the championship last year but Division 2 is a big set-up and they are facing a senior championship side.

Armagh will be looking for a second win in a row in their hopes of reaching the Division 2 Final for a second year in a row.

Tipperary v Cavan – Sunday 29th January, Fethard Town Park at 2pm

The last time these two sides met Tipperary came out winners in the All-Ireland senior championship.

Tipp got off to a winning start last weekend while Cavan found it tough against an Armagh side in Drumlane. Games between these sides are always tight and Cavan will hope to put in a good performance this weekend while Tipp will be looking for two wins from two.
