Preview: Allianz NFL Div 1 Week 5

Mayo and Roscommon meet in a top of the table affair on Sunday, while one of Kerry, Galway or Monaghan can gain ground if they get positive results this weekend to push for a final place.

Armagh V Donegal, Saturday March 4th, BOX-IT Athletic Grounds, 7:30pm

Both teams are on three points and will hope to avoid defeat because whoever loses will have a relegation battle on their hands.

After heavy defeats to Tyrone and Monaghan, Donegal snatched a draw with Galway last weekend and will be out for a win this evening.

Armagh were unlucky not to take anything from their encounter in Tralee last weekend, they have not looked as strong as last season but a win would go a long way to secure their Div 1 status

Tyrone V Kerry, Sunday March 5th, O’Neills Healy Park, 12:45pm

Another battle against two sides who are well known to the other, a must win for Tyrone to keep them up.

Having just one win from four matches, Tyrone are bottom of the pile and need to find their form in Omagh on Sunday afternoon in order to remain in the top division.

While Kerry haven’t shown their strength as All Ireland champions, they have shown signs of life especially against the northern teams, sitting in third they can still stake a claim for a final.

Galway V Monaghan, Sunday March 5th, Pearse Stadium, 12:45pm

Monaghan will look to preserve their status in Division one and keep their long running status alive as they head West.

The Farney County started slow but strong showings over Donegal and Roscommon, including ending three Rossies unbeaten streak, will give them confidence.

Galway need a good 70 minute long matinee performance to showcase their ability, in patches and they have looked a handful and despite only losing one game they will be out to avoid a drop.

Roscommon V Mayo, Sunday March 5th, Dr Hyde Park, 2:45pm

A win here and whoever comes out on top is in a good position to contest the League Final.

Mayo have much better momentum after a very impressive win over Tyrone last time out, they are in a good spot and will not want to falter at this late stage.

Roscommon lost their first game of the campaign against Monaghan last time out, hopefully for them it will not knock their confidence, a final spot for them is at stake and also, the sides meet again in the Connacht quarter final in a couple weeks.
