Final Round draw sets up interesting fixtures in Intermediate Championship

The draw for the final round of games in the Smith Monumentals Leitrim Intermediate Football Championship, has some interesting ties with leaders Aughnasheelin against neighbours Allen Gaels one of the standout ties.

After an action packed weekend in Round 3, the final round is winner takes all not a whole lot separating the teams in the table, making the Quarter Final stage a possibility for everyone in the grade.

Following their draw with Mohill at the weekend, Aughavas have just the one-point in their three games, they are home to Bornacoola tied in a three horse race for second place following their strong showing the weekend, a win for them could snatch second should results elsewhere go their way.

Ballinaglera and Kiltubrid will look to keep their championship ambitions alive, in a repeat of last year’s semi-final. The hosts coming off the back of a defeat will be looking for a better showing against a Kiltubrid side that just snatched a draw against Drumkeerin at the weekend.

It’s a straight shoutout between Drumkeerin and Drumreilly in the third fixture from the draw, a win for Drumreilly would see them into the quarter finals going above their opponents in the table, while the latter could go ahead of Ballinaglera with a win. Drumreilly beaten well this weekend will try to regain composure before their meeting in two weeks.

Beaten well by Allen Gaels in the end in round 3, Annaduff will look to book passage against a struggling Mohill. Mohill off the back of getting their first point this weekend, travel away from home looking to remain in contention for a spot in the quarter final.

Local rivals and the table toppers, undefeated Aughnasheellin are at home to Allen Gaels, having been relegated last year they came down as a contender for sure, two wins from three, their unbeaten neighbours pose a tough task in the final round.

All ties are to be played the weekend of September 16-17th, you can stay up to date on all the action from the Intermediate Championship here at FinalWhistle.ie
