Match Report

Roundup: D3 Allianz Football League

Only two games survived the weather in Division 3 this weekend. Antrim bounced back from the defeat to Limerick in their previous game to defeat Wicklow by six points in Belfast while Louth came from five points down to beat Limerick by two and register their first win of the campaign.

Antrim 2-10 Wicklow 1-07

Second half goals from Marc Jordan and substitute Conor Murray proved to be the difference as Antrim moved to the top of Division 3 with six points to spare over Wicklow.

Antrim dominated the majority of possession and went in at the break on level terms - 0-07 to 1-04. A goal from Kevin Quinn brought the Garden County back into the game midway through the first half.

Five minutes into the second half Antrim scored their first goal through Jordan. Antrim sealed a fine win deep into stoppage time when Murray grabbed their second goal. Wicklow remain bottom of the table with just one point.

Limerick 1-12 Louth 1-14

Points from Ciaran Downey and Sam Mulroy saw Louth pick up their first win of the campaign with a two point win over Limerick at the UL GAA Grounds.

When Josh Ryan pointed over a free in the 55th minute of this tie it looked like Limerick were on their way to 3 wins out of 3 but Mickey Harte’s side had other ideas and a terrific fightback saw them claim their first win of the campaign.

Louth trailed by one point at the break and a Tommy Durnin point edged them ahead by one in the 41st minute. A goal from Hugh Byrne and points from Ryan saw Limerick ahead by 5 with 15 minutes remaining. Sam Mulroy led the fightback for Louth with five points (3fs and 1’45)
