Roundup: D2 Allianz Football League

Galway, Derry and Roscommon continued their winning ways in Division 2, with Munster rivals Cork and Clare sharing the spoils after an entertaining encounter Leeside.

Down 0-9 Galway 1-12

Galway remain top of the second flight after a strong away victory on a score-line of 1-12 to 0-9.

Padraic Joyces men made a perfect start to the day as their first score was a ball in the back of the net by Paul Conroy. Conroy ended the first half with 1-2 out of Galway's 1-7 as Down trailed on a score-line of 1-7 to 0-2 at the break.

Down started the second half well, notching four points to no reply; as they made good use of the conditions, clawing the gap back to four points.

Down never pushed on after this and Galway started to get to grips with the Mourne men.

Four second half free kicks from Shane Walsh made sure Galway saw out the match leaving Páirc Esler with the two points and Galway now sit on four points after two games.

Down are among three sides now routed to the bottom of the table with no points so far.

Cork 1-13 Clare 1-13

Cork and Clare shared the spoils after a hotly contested match which finished all square.

The sides matched each other score for score in the first half with no side being able to get on top of the other.

Three late first half free kick points from Keelan Sexton saw Clare go in at the break 0-9 to 0-6 ahead.

Cork started the second half with the wind at their backs and soon enough the sides were level once more.

Keelan Sexton added to his tally as Clare were awarded a penalty which he converted to bring his account to 1-7.

This goal pushed Clare into the lead, but once more the game took a dramatic turn with Cork scoring 1-2 unanswered heading into injury time now leading by two.

Clare bagged two late points in added time to salvage a draw in a match that truly could have gone either way.

This draw is Cork's first point on the board after a disappointing match last time out they will be pleased to get their tally moving. This also leaves Clare on three points, and after having had big leads in the match they may be disappointed not to finish the weekend on four.

Offaly 0-7 Derry 2-13

Derry proved to be too much for Offaly as they stormed out with an easy victory in the end in Tullamore.

Derry will be delighted to pick up two points on the road and with an impressive haul of scores it was a productive day overall for them.

After two difficult outings for Offaly, they will need to regroup if they want to start competing and staying in the division as more difficult opposition lies ahead of them

Meath 1-11 Roscommon 1-15

Meath's tough start to Division 2 has been extended after another defeat to a Connaught side.

Anthony Cunningham's men proved again to be strong as they brushed aside the home side.

This result leaves Meath bottom of the table after two game weeks and now desperately needing an improvement in the upcoming games.

Roscommon will be delighted with their progress with two wins from two keeping them at the top of the table with maximum points after the two games.
