This week Laura Heffernan, U19 Manager with DLR Waves drops in to chat about the new U19 League which starts this season. Hosted by Meabh de Burca and Breifne Earley.

Meabh (0:34) discusses the last weekends games including Peamount’s last half hour shootout against Athlone after a fine opening half defensively from the midland’s club. She chat’s in-depth about double goalscorer, her former team mate Sabhdh Doyle who has impressed during her initial opportunities at Greenogue.

Title challengers Shelbourne also capped a fine performance with a 5-0 victory over Treaty United including a first senior goal for their new arrival centre half Jess Stapleton who made the move from Shamrock Rovers this season.

Wexford kept their interest alive at the top of the table. 3-1 winners over Cork with Aoibheann Clancy finding the net twice amongst them while Sarah McKevitt opened her Cork City account in reply.

Finally in the most evenly clash of the weekend DLR Waves edged out Bohemians with a controversial goal settling matters as the home side were awarded a goal despite protests from Bohemians defenders.

Laura Heffernan (16:47), who’s just taken on the role of U19 manager at DLR Waves, joins Breifne for a discussion about what impact we can expect from the new grade filling the sizeable gap between the U17 divisions and senior football.

They chat about her 2017 senior title winning experience with Wexford Youths and capturing the U17 league title with Shelbourne in 2018 and the new challenge she faces in UCD.
